(Nov. 16 2008) Update from Amy:
The color effect was done with Selective and normal Color Adjustments in multiple layers. The brick wall was done by copying and pasting it, then flipping it and transforming the perspective. I made all the bricks going in different directions by just going insane with the Clone tool. It's meant to look like an illusion, I guess.

I'm quite proud of this one. The original was awful.

(Nov. 12 2008) Update from Jes:

This was taken during my recent car trip. So obviously it is in no means perfect or in my opinion good. The lighting is messed up, you can see my reflection from the window if you look close enough. I basically cropped the bottom a bit because as you can see there is half a bird in the frame of the original. Then used auto color since it looked way better then the curves I was attempting to do. After picking out a texture from diventart I shrunk the picture so the texture would fit before placing the texture on a new layer. I messed around with the opacity and made the texture a liner burn before flattening the picture. And there you go a cyclone of creepy birds.

Before and after.
Okay, the picture was fucked up to begin with, because the camera was too zoomed in to see my whole pose. I actually had my arms out with a pair of scissors in each hand, but alas. I shoot blind with self portraits; If I mess up, I only realize it when it's too late.
Another mistake was turning off the flash- hence the enormous amount of orange in the first picture. But I didn't worry too much about that while shooting because I knew a simple color adjustment could fix it. The white face makeup was virtually lost in the orange light, but the dodge tool at a high setting fixed that little problem. A combination of Dodge and Burn coupled with Curves lead to the final picture.
(Nov. 11 2008) Update from Amy:
Why hello there, my audience of one! I'm hoping to get this little site up and running within the week, so to start it off, let's have a picture post:

So I'm taking some of my older pictures and reworking them with more dramatic effects. Not too sure about this one, seeing as how cracked, faded, and worn out isn't usually my style. But hey, I'm trying to expand.
This effect was created using a texture I downloaded from DeviantArt. I had the texture in the top layer, with two layers beneath it. One had additional grain and the other had the color effect.
